4 Tips To Decorate Your Home For Valentine’s Day

Valentines day decor

Valentine’s Day can be the most romantic time of the year, that’s why it is important to celebrate with your spouse! Whether you go out on the town to celebrate or just stay in and watch a movie, you can try something different this year by decorating your home. There are 4 tricks that you should consider when decorating your house for Valentine’s day; mood lighting, festive colors, balloon hearts, and centerpieces

Mood Lighting

This is one of the most important features that you want to take advantage of when you are decorating your home for Valentine’s Day. The mood lighting can help you feel more relaxed and excited about your evening together. It makes it feel less of a chore and something that you are both looking forward to.

If you are wondering about how you can achieve mood lighting, it would be a good idea to draw your blinds, dim your lights if you have that option, and light lots of candles.

Festive Colors

When decorating you always want to think about Valentine’s Day colors! Adding pink, red, and white elements into your house is a great way to get excited about Valentine’s Day. Here are some ideas of different colors that you can add to your house to make it more festive;

  • Adding pink and red roses throughout the house
  • Lighting candles that both you and your significant other love
  • Making custom treats that are red, white, and pink
  • Writing love letter to each other on colored paper
  • If you’re making dinner, have your linens be pink or red

When you use festive colors remember to not overwhelm your space with different colors. If you use too many colors it can be a lot to take in and not be cohesive.

Balloon Hearts

If you’re looking for an eye-catching backdrop the easiest (and cheapest) idea might be to make a balloon heart! You can get cheap balloons from the Family Dollar Store or Dollar Tree. They usually have pink, red, and white balloons available in February.

The easiest way to make a balloon heart is to start by blowing up your balloons and tying them to keep the air in. From this point you can either tape the balloons directly to the wall or you can tie strings to the balloons and tape the strings to the floor.

If you are going to use the tape method then all you need is double-sided tape and balloons. You take the double-sided tape and put it directly on the balloon. From that point you take the balloon and stick it on the wall to create a heart shape.

If you are going to use the string method then you will need string and balloons. You want to start by tying a string on the balloon and putting them on the wall to shape a heart. You will need to adjust the string height to make sure that it makes a heart.

Centerpieces

If you want to surprise your significant other with something special you can do this with an extravagant centerpiece! There are lots of different centerpieces that you can do but we recommend creating something that is relevant for you and your spouse. Here are some ideas that we recommend!

Edible Arrangements

Edible arrangements are a great idea to give to someone who loves food. You can buy edible arrangements or you can be creative and make your own! Some types of edible arrangements that you can pick from are chocolate covered strawberries, fruits like cantaloupe, grapes, honeydew, and pineapple.

Chocolate

For a chocolate lover it is always a good idea to make a centerpiece out of chocolate! There are so many ways that you can use chocolate for your focal point. You can buy a chocolate fountain for you and your significant other to use. Just make sure that you include things to dip into the fountain!

If you want more of a challenge than you can make a chocolate dome with an edible surprise underneath. If baking is not your cup of tea then chocolate domes are available to buy online.

Candles/Rose Petals

Simple ideas like lighting a candle or sprinkling rose petals might be more of a traditional centerpiece. When lighting candles it would be a good idea to use thin taper candles. It is also a good idea to add rose petals to add more color to the table.
